Zafar Butt seeks world help in Kashmir settlement

Srinagar, May 11, 2015 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, Hurriyet leader and the Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Salvation Movement (JKSM) Zafar Akbar Butt has sought intervention of the world community in addressing the Kashmir dispute for ensuring peace in the region.

Zafar Akbar Butt addressing a party meet in Srinagar, today, said that delay in resolution of the Kashmir dispute was a main reason of the prevailing tension between India and Pakistan. He said that Kashmir dispute had endangered the regional peace as both the countries possessed dangerous atomic weapons. “If world community helps in resolving the dispute in accordance with the wishes of the Kashmiri people, it will be a great service towards saving this south Asian region from a destructive war,” he stated.

Zafar Akbar Butt said that demilitarization of Kashmir and repealing of black laws particularly the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) would pave way for Kashmir settlement. He said that repressive tactics amid at crushing freedom struggle would not bear results as Kashmiris would continue its peaceful struggle despite odds and would take the mission to its logical conclusion. He urged the world powers to come forward and play role in resolving the lingering Kashmir dispute for which innocent people had sacrificed their precious lives.
