Zafar Butt asks UN to use its powers for Kashmir resolution

Srinagar, May 17, 2015 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, Hurriyet leader and the Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Salvation Movement, Zafar Akbar Butt, has urged the United Nations to use its powers for the peaceful resolution of the Kashmir dispute in accordance with the Kashmiris’ aspirations. Zafar Akbar Butt, addressing a gathering held in Srinagar, today, in connection with the Founding Day of his party, said that the Kashmiris would continue their struggle to secure their right to self-determination till complete success.

He said that the UN was an independent World Body, which had to shoulder the responsibility of resolving the Kashmir conflict without any further delay. The JKSM Chairman lauding the role of Pakistan said that the country always strived for settlement of the dispute but India never reciprocated to its efforts. He said that New Delhi always preferred to continue its illegal hold on Jammu and Kashmir and to silence the Kashmiris through its military might.

He deplored that on one side, bloodshed continued to take place in Kashmir at the hands of Indian forces, while on the other, New Delhi was trying to change the demography and Muslim identity of the territory. He said that provocative activities of RSS-like organizations could not keep the Kashmiris away from their liberation movement. Zafar Akbar Butt castigated the puppet administration for its undemocratic attitude towards the pro-freedom leaders and activists. He said that pro-India politicians had made occupied Kashmir a hell for its inhabitants.

He appealed to the international community to break its silence and take a strong notice of human rights violations perpetrated by Indian troops and police personnel in the occupied territory. The JKSM Chairman praised the resolve of the Kashmiri people particularly women and youth and said that they were determined to continue their struggle till they achieved their right to self-determination. His address was punctuated by high-pitched anti-India and pro-freedom slogans. The day was dedicated to martyrs, victims of custodial killings and illegally detained political prisoners.
