Wilhelmsen Ships Service signs contract with Karachi Port Trust to supply cleaning chemicals

Karachi: World’s leading maritime services provider Wilhelmsen Ships Service (WSS) signed its first contract with Karachi Port Trust KPT to supply cleaning chemicals during 2011–2012, demonstrating an ongoing growth for WSS within what is an increasingly important region to the company.

Port of Karachi comprises a deep natural harbour with 11km long approach channel which provides safe navigation for vessels up to 75,000 metric tons deadweight. First order is for de-scaling liquid for fleet of dredgers operating in KPT dry dock. Annually KPT uses about 8000 litres of this product.

“We are delighted to have this opportunity to work with KPT,” comments Moloy Das, Area Sales Manager for WSS in the sub-continent. “We hope to expand our business further with KPT in foreseeable future.” SG Ali Ahmed, General Manager WSS says “due to geo-strategic location of Pakistan’s neighbouring countries such as China, India, Afghanistan, Iran, and with further access into the CIS (former Soviet Republics) countries we feel that activities in port and shipping in all three of ports of Pakistan will continue to grow at a fast pace.”
