Uplifting of roads infrastructure and facilities in different Marakiz of Federal Capital

Islamabad, February 25, 2016 (PPI-OT):Capital Development Authority (CDA) has decided to further uplift roads infrastructure in different Marakiz of the Federal Capital. Machinery Pool Organization (MPO) of the Authority has been tasked to mobilize the machinery so that work could be started by next week.

This was decided during a meeting held at CDA headquarters here on Wednesday. The meeting was chaired by Chairman CDA, Maroof Afzal, while Member Engineering Shahid Sohail, Member Administration Amer Ali Ahmed, Member Environment Sanaullah Aman and Senior officers of the authority were also present in the meeting.

The meeting decided that under this project all facilities will be improved and would be uplifted in line with the International standards. Moreover, footpaths would be upgraded, missing street lights would be installed, sewerage system in the markets would be improved and most importantly the existing connecting roads with in the marakiz will be upgraded and new links would be built to provide an easy and friendly access with in the markets to the people visiting these markets.

Initially development and revamping work would be started from the Markaz G-11 and F-11 while its canvas would be expended in the entire city. MPO directorate of the Authority has been directed to ensure initiation of development work by next week.

The meeting was informed that in addition to the revamping and uplift of the marakiz, work on Islamabad Up-gradation and Rehabilitation plan is in full swing, under this project not only road infrastructure across the city, is being improved and revamped but comprehensive uplift work in other segments including beautification of the city, improvement of sewerage system and installation of missing street lights. The meeting was further informed that re-carpeting work on major roads in Sector F-7, F-6 and G-6 while lane marking, fixation of sign boards and improvement of the green areas have also been completed.

Chairman CDA, Maroof Afzal said that uplift work in the marakiz will not only enhance the economic activity in the city but will also help address longstanding issues of the traders. He said that aim of the Islamabad Rehabilitation and up-gradation plan is to improve the face of Islamabad and uplift the city in line with international standards.

He said that those areas where rehabilitation work has been completed remarkable change can be witnessed. He directed the concerned formations to ensure initiation of work on uplift of marakiz without any delay so that development and rehabilitation on all segments could be completed simultaneously.
