Union of Small and Medium Enterprises urges Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority to set up office in China

KARACHI: The Union of Small and Medium Enterprises (UNISAME) has urged the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA) to set up an office in China and promote collaboration between Pakistani entrepreneurs and Chinese entrepreneurs for manufacture of electronic goods, automobile parts, and general merchandise in Pakistan.

President UNISAME Zulfikar Thaver in a letter to Yousuf Naeem Khokhar chief executive officer (CEO) SMEDA emphasized the need for this arrangement as Pakistan needs technology and China is well versed and advanced in technology whereas Pakistani entrepreneurs are in a position to set up units for the manufacture of goods of various types but need know how. Secondly there is huge demand for multiple goods in Pakistan as Pakistan imports big quantities of various goods and general merchandise from China, Japan, Korea and Taiwan.

Basically it would mean transfer of technology as gradually our engineering experts would inherit the technology from the Chinese and it is the need of the hour that we take China as the role model to achieve industrial growth but it is essential that SMEDA has a representative office in China to persuade the Chinese businessmen to collaborate with Pakistani businessmen for mutual benefit he said.
