Turkish company signs energy purchase and implementation agreement in Pakistan

Ankara: Turkey’s Zorlu Energy has signed an energy purchase and implementation agreement with Pakistan’s National Transmission & Despatch Company and Pakistan Alternative Energy Development Board, Journal Weekly reported on Wednesday.

A company statement said Zorlu Energy had signed the agreement on wind power plant planned to become operational in Jhimpir, Sindh in year 2012. The 56.4-MW power plant will generate 159 mw/hr electricity p.a when it becomes operational.

At end-2009, Zorlu Energy had five thermal power plants with combined installed capacity of 460MW of electricity and 192 tons/hour of steam. Zorlu Energy first made a public offering of 20% of its shares in 2000. Today 29.4% of company’s stock is traded on Istanbul Stock Exchange.
