TRTA progresses effectively in Pakistan to support business activities: Afridi

ISLAMABAD: The European Union funded Trade Related Assistance Programme (TRTA) is progressing effectively in Pakistan to support the business activities by upgrading service delivery system of government functionaries relating to economic sectors. This programme will strengthen the legislative, administrative and technical output of Intellectual Property Organization of Pakistan (IPO).

This was stated by the Chairman IPO Hameed Ullah Jan Afridi while presiding a meeting to review the pace of progress of (TRTA). TRTA programme is being implemented under the auspices of United National Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) The Deputy Director WIPO Mansur Raza Project Consultant Inayat Syed, Executive Director IPO-Pakistan also present on the occasion.

Hameed Ullah Jan Afridi said that IPO with its partner’s organizations has been deputed dedicated teams to ensure the proper and timely execution of this programme which basically aimed to develop automation of all the registries of IPO. He further said that important aspect of this programme is online application system which will modernize the organizational work system.

Mansur Raza and Inayat Syed briefed about the salient features of TRTA Programme and also discussed various matters with IPO officers regarding its implementation. They said that focus will be laid on conducting suitable measures for successful execution of the programme which will certainly strengthen the IPR enforcement in the country.

The Executive Director IPO- Umar Dad Afridi, Director TRATA Meesaq Arif. Director Legal Dr. Muhammad Khurram and Asif Iqbal while discussing the implementation strategy of TRATA especially the training of stakeholder’s personals’ highlighted the work had so far been done and also gave suggestions to meet the targets without any delay.

It was decided in the meeting that a progress of all project components would be reviewed in weekly meetings and the bottlenecks would be removed after mutual consultation, if any.
