Traders ask Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce & Industry to cancel membership of Islamabad Women Chamber of Commerce & Industry

Islamabad, November 27, 2013 (PPI-OT): Traders of different markets of Islamabad led by Ajmal Baloch, Central Organizing Secretary of Traders Action Committee during a strong protest at China Chowk, Islamabad called upon the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce & Industry to immediately cancel the membership of Islamabad Women Chamber of Commerce & Industry (IWCCI) as its license has expired.

They were carrying banners. They lauded the decision of Regulator of Trade Organizations for accepting nomination of Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry for FPCCI.

Addressing the traders, Ajmal baloch said that as per Trade Organizations Act 2013, ICCI has been given representation in FPCCI but IWCCI challenged its nomination.

He said IWCCI is working for a man who has been declared ineligible by the Supreme Court of Pakistan from obtaining membership of any Chamber in the country.

He said FPCCI has earmarked one seat of Vice President for Women Chambers and all seven Women Chambers of the country are electoral college for that seat while license of IWCCI has already expired in 2012 and has not been got renewed as yet.

Therefore, he called upon the FPCCI to cancel the membership of IWCCI as its license has expired.

He also called for audit of IWCCI accounts. Ajmal Baloch said the Regulator of Trade Organizations has given a decision in favour of Munawar Mughal accepting his nomination from the platform of ICCI for FPCCI and traders of Islamabad appreciate this decision.

He said Islamabad Chamber of Small Traders also got the license fraudulently and we would continue to protest against this illegal act.
