Trade defines international relations: Minister

Islamabad, February 04, 2015 (PPI-OT): Ambassador of Belarus called on the Federal Minister for Textile Industry Mr Abbas Khan Afridi and conveyed warm greetings and wishes of the leadership. He was accompanied by economic counsellor Konstantin B. Rzheussky.

The Minister said that it is the need of the hour to have strong diplomatic ties with Belarus .Economic cooperation should be promoted as economic ties and trade defines international relations. Pakistan’s textile industry is quite vibrant, endowed with a complete cotton value chain and inherent potential for value addition.

The envoy expressed keen interest in cotton and acrylic fibres and informed the minister that Belarusian head of state would soon visit Pakistan. In the meeting, both sides expressed their strong desire to enhance cordial relationships, expand bilateral trade, encourage people to people contact and strengthen mutual partnership.

The envoy expressed his immense interest in textiles of Pakistan. Minister assured the Belarusian ambassador that ministry would extend all out support to reach out to the quality textile produce of Pakistan. To further strengthen the relationship, it was agreed to hold regular meetings.
