The Karachi Stock Exchange Limited’s seeking comments on first four chapters of the draft KSE rule book

Karachi, May 06, 2013 (PPI-OT): This is to notify all TRE Certificate Holders of the Exchange that the management of the Exchange has compiled all the existing regulations of the Exchange available on KSE website: into a single Rule Book while taking into consideration the demutualization/ Corporatization of the Exchange.

The draft Rule Book consists of total twenty-four (24) Chapters, out of which twenty (20) chapters are just compilation of relevant existing regulations while the remaining four (4) are redrafted in line with demutualization and Corporatization of the Exchange.

The first four (4) chapters in the draft Rule Book, which are new additions, are dealing with various aspects, such as:

Chapter 1-Preamble, Short Title and Commencement (added as per statutory requirement)

Chapter 2- Interpretation and Definitions (consolidates all the definitions and their principles of interpretation of the entire set of chapters into one chapter of the Rule Book)

Chapter 3- The Karachi Stock Exchange Limited (KSE) (addresses powers and functions of the Exchange post demutualization and Corporatization)

Chapter 4- Trading Rights Entitlement (TRE) Certificate (deals with TRE Certificate Holders and their Fit and Proper Criteria and Accredited Agents their powers and duties etc.)

In light of above, the Board of Directors of the Exchange in its meeting held on Thursday, May 2, 2013 decided to place the above mentioned four (4) chapters of the draft KSE Rule Book at KSE website to seek comments of all TRE Certificate Holders on the same.

All TRE Certificate Holders are therefore requested to provide their comments, if any, on the above mentioned chapters latest by Monday, May 13, 2013 to the undersigned in writing.
