Thailand wants to enhance trade relations with Pakistan

Karachi: Visiting Thailand Minister, Department of South Asian, Middle East & African Affairs Nat Pinyowatanacheep says his government wants to enhance bilateral trade with Pakistan.

He assured to extend technical cooperation in many fields including gems, jewellery, seafood, alternative energy solutions in meeting with Secretary Trade Development Authority of Pakistan TDAP Javed Anwar Khan Thursday at TDAP head office. Delegates from Thai Chamber of Commerce, Federation of Thai Industries, Board of Investment, Statistics, Research Bureau were also present.

Javed Anwar said TDAP plans to open gems, jewellery facility in Karachi airport vicinity and sought technical cooperation from Thailand. He said at present Thai Government imposed ban on export of Pakistani fruits, vegetables. He asked Thailand to send inspection team to inspect processing unit and orchid of fresh fruits.

Pakistan is strictly following all phytosanitary standards and many South East states like Indonesia, Malaysia allowed imports of Pakistani fruits, vegetables. China, Iran also lifted restriction on mangoes, kinnows import from Pakistan. Recently, Japan and USA allowed mangoes import, he added. He urged Thai Minister to send high profile delegation of businessmen in upcoming Expo Pakistan in Karachi.
