Textile exports increase 12.67 percent to $2.208 billion in first two months of current fiscal

KARACHI: Textile exports increased by 12.67 percent to $2.208 billion during the first two months of the current fiscal year against $1.96 billion in the corresponding months last year, the Federal Bureau of Statistics (FBS) said on Monday.

Pakistan’s textile exports rose by 35 percent to record high of $13.8 billion in 2010/11. Overall export from the country surged 29 percent to 25 billion dollars.

The growth was mainly attributed to better prices of cotton and textile products in the global market while the increase in volume remained limited. Raw cotton exports jumped 800 percent to $33.132 million in June despite crop damages in the wake of 2010 floods.
