Tameer Bank starts financial services at Mauripur Truck Stand

Karachi, February 04, 2015 (PPI-OT): Tameer, Pakistan’s first scheduled and largest private sector microfinance bank, has formally inaugurated its new location at the Mauripur Truck Stand in Karachi today.

Commenting on the occasion, Mr. Nadeem Hussain, CEO of Tameer said: “I am delighted to share this moment with everyone present today. In line with our commitment, we are extending our reach in the transport sector by opening this 24×7 location at Mauripur to serve the transport community”.

Sharing more details, Nadeem added, “Tameer will provide value added services through our core and branchless banking products to the sector that contributes around 10% to the country’s GDP. We plan to leverage our network along the National Highway and provide cashless solutions like mobile wallet accounts, Fuel Cards etc. to facilitate the business and transport industry”.

Trucks and light commercial vehicles constitute 96% of the total domestic freight traffic. As per some estimates, the number of trucks moving in country is around 35,000 per day with an average expense of around Rs. 100,000 per vehicle – and most of their needs currently remain largely unaddressed. With the opening of its location at Mauripur, Tameer now has 153 touch points and 60,000 Easypaisa agents across the country.
