National Accountability Bureau clarifies report regarding arrest of Niaz Hussain Chachar

Karachi, November 05, 2015 (PPI-OT): A Spokesman for Anti-Corruption Establishment Sindh has clarified the Press Release of NAB Sindh dated 05.11.2015 regarding arrest of Niaz Hussain Chachar (said to be an employees of ACE). The Spokesman has clarified that Niaz Hussain Chachar is no more serving in ACE. However, he was Sub-Inspector in ACE Hyderabad and was removed from service vide order No.SO-III(S and GAD) POL-7-37/2004, dated 8th December 2010 by the competent authority i.e. Chief Secretary to Government of Sindh.

The spokesman further clarified that since removal from service, Niaz Hussain Chachar has no concern whatsoever with the affairs of ACE Sindh.

Progressive and proactive Right to Information Law draft law Sindh to ensure greater transparency and good governance: Nisar Ahmed Khuhro

Karachi, November 05, 2015 (PPI-OT): Senior Sindh Minister for Information and Education, Mr. Nisar Ahmed Khuhro has said that Pir Sahab Pagaro was seasoned politician and he would certainly take a right decision in the aftermath of the Khairpur tragedy, adding that adequate security arrangements were underway to ensure holding of the next phase of local bodies polls in peaceful and orderly manner. He said that besides Rapid Response Force, Rangers personnel, the troops would also be standby as a backup arrangement.

He was talking to media men at a local Hotel after addressing a seminar on Right to Information organized under the auspice PILDAT. Earlier addressing the seminar on Right to Information Law (RTI) for the province of Sindh, he said that draft law had been sent to the cabinet for approval and after that the same would be tabled in the Assembly for enactment, adding that the proposed draft law was much progressive and compatible with the RTI Laws already enacted by the Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governments and the one being drafted by the Federal Government.

Under the proposed draft law, the principle of maximum disclosures and transparency and minimum of discretionary powers had been ensured and scope of public bodies had been extended to all those who are getting funds from the public exchequer.

Our country, Mr. Khuhro said, had passed through a chequered history since the inception when democratic forces were maligned, individuals were glorified at the expense of institutions, adding that the print media was subjected to a rigorous censorship and dictators used to enjoy when editorial pages of certain newspapers went blank.

In this darkest era, it went to the credit of two major political parties who realized significance of freedom of expression and agreed in the charter of democracy and this was followed by the 18th Constitutional Amendment wherein the right to information was included in the fundamental rights.

Mr. Khuhro said that the Sindh Assembly had passed a good number of progressive and proactive Laws to protect women, children, minorities and other weak and vulnerable segments of the society. Live coverage to the Sindh Assembly proceeding by satellite TV Channels; open Question Hour and proceedings of Public Accounts Committee in the presence of media men were major tool to ensure transparency and good governance.

Mr. Nisar Ahmed Khuhro advised all the Provincial Departments to have their own websites and update the same at regular interval in the public interest; he lauded the audience which include media people and representatives of the Civil Society for their valuable suggestions vis-à-vis RTI Law.

MPA, Mehtab Akbar Rashdi, Rehan Hashmi, Huma Baqai and others also spoke; earlier, KPK Information Commissioner, Mr. Abdul Matin Khan and Information Commissioner Punjab, Mr. Mukhtar Ahmed Ali threw light on their respective RTI Law, rules made there under and their role in addressing public grievances. Joint Director PILDAT, Asia Riaz also spoke on the occasion.

Transfer/postings in Sindh Judiciary

Karachi, November 05, 2015 (PPI-OT):The Chief Justice and the judges of the High Court of Sindh have ordered the following transfers and postings of District and Sessions Judges, with immediate effect:

Mr. Ghulam Shah, is transferred from Special Judge, Anti-Corruption (Provincial) Sukkur to Khairpur against the post lying vacant. He is to take charge immediately.

Mr. Faheem Ahmed Khan is transferred from Judge, Anti-Corruption (Provincial) Hyderabad and directed to report to High Court, he is to leave the charge of the post immediately. A post of OSD is created in order to draw his salary and allowances.

The Chief Justice has under the Sindh Civil servants (Efficiency and Discipline) Rules, 1973 re-instated the following Judicial officers in service, with immediate effect:

Mr. Sultan Ali Leghari, Additional District and Sessions Judge (Report to High Court); Mr. Khalid Hussain Leghari, Senior Civil Judge/ Assistant Sessions Judge Naushahro Feroze and Mr. Zafar Hussai Leghari, Civil Judge and judicial Magistrate Naushahro Feroze.

The Chief Justice has directed Mr. Suresh Kumar, District and Sessions Judge (waiting for posting) to join his new assignment as Special Judge, Anti-Corruption (Central) Hyderabad.

Justice Sajjad Ali Shah to take oath as acting Chief Justice of Sindh High Court on November 06

Karachi, November 05, 2015 (PPI-OT): The oath taking ceremony of Mr. Justice Sajjad Ali Shah, as acting Chief Justice of the Sindh High Court will be held on Friday November 06, 2015 08.30 a.m. at the High Court Building. Mr. Justice Ahmed Ali M. Shaikh, Senior Judge of High Court of Sindh will administer the oath.

Adequate security measures in place for next phase of polls: Nisar Ahmed Khuhro

Karachi, November 04, 2015 (PPI-OT): The Sindh Government has decided to ask the Federal Government to keep troops standby as a backup arrangement, besides Rapid Response Force will also be available and the Rangers personnel will continue patrolling with a view to ensure holding the next phase of the local bodies polls, scheduled to be held on November 19 in 15 districts, in peaceful and orderly manner.

This was stated by Senior Minister for Information and Education, Mr. Nisar Ahmed Khuhro while briefing the media men on the decisions taken by the meeting held today under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Sindh, Syed Qaim Ali Shah to review law and order situation obtained in the province. He said that it was decided in the meeting that the Chief Secretary and Inspector General of Police would meet the Chief Election Commissioner on the next Monday to request him for troops.

As many as 2820 polling stations, Mr. Khuhro said, had been declared as most sensitive and 5571 sensitive in the 15 districts, adding that Rapid Response Force would be able to rush to the spot in the case of any emergency. He made it clear that the Government had also decided to ban carrying and display of weapons and this would be strictly enforced, adding that he, said a 3-member committee had also been constituted to examine and asses the security needs on the eve of the next phase of the polls.

Special funds allocated to eradicate dengue: Minister

Karachi, November 04, 2015 (PPI-OT):Provincial Minister for Health, Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar has said that it was a collective duty of society to strive together to eradicate Dengue and for the purpose all the stakeholders should come forward for this noble cause and there was no need to fear Dengue virus.

This he said while presiding over a Seminar on Dengue virus, organized by Medical and Social Welfare Committee of Arts Council of Pakistan here on Wednesday. He said that Dengue virus flourished in certain temperature for the period from 1st September to end of October in 110 Countries of the World, adding that timely precautions and awareness could save us from this disease.

Health Minister said that a massive campaign regarding Dengue virus could help reduce menace of Dengue and in this regard, the role of media was quite important and media could create awareness on Dengue. He told the audience that so far Sindh Health Department had distributed 2 million leaflets during mass awareness program all over Sindh and during this campaign educational Institutions, Community Centres and other important places were focused.

He added, ‘Sindh Health Department has established isolation wards in all major Government-run Hospitals for treatment of Dengue diagnosed patients and Private Hospitals have also been directed to share data regarding Dengue patients, while this program has been given full status in ADP and a huge funds have also been allocated for Dengue Program’.

He hoped that the efforts taken by the Sindh Government would yield results and gradually we would be able to eradicate Dengue in the society. On this occasion, Program Manager for Dengue Dr. Masood Solangi, Dr. Mirza Ali Azhar, Dr. Sajjad Qureshi and other also spoke.
