Curtain Raiser: Inaugural round of Pakistan-Jordan Bilateral Political Consultations

Islamabad, November 21, 2016 (PPI-OT):Pakistan and Jordan will hold the Inaugural round of Bilateral Political Consultations on 22 November 2016 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Islamabad. The Jordanian delegation, led by Ambassador Nayaf El-Zidan, Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Expatriates o the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, is on a two-day visit to Islamabad. Additional Secretary (Middle East) Mr. Tasawar Khan will lead the Pakistan delegation.

The two sides will review important aspects of bilateral relations with focus on upgrading their existing economic and commercial relations. Exchanges will also take place on regional issues and international developments, especially the current situation in the Middle East. The inaugural session of Bilateral Political Consultations will afford an opportunity to review the existing state of bilateral relations, discuss the way forward and to exchange views on the regional and international issues of mutual interest.

Pakistan’s protest over ceasefire violations on Line of Control by Indian Occupation Forces and Refusal of Diplomatic Flight Clearance

Islamabad, November 21, 2016 (PPI-OT):The Indian Deputy High Commissioner, Mr. J.P. Singh, was summoned to the Foreign Office, today and conveyed the Government of Pakistan’s strong condemnation of the unprovoked ceasefire violations by Indian occupation forces on the LOC in Khuiratta sector on 19 November 2016, resulting in shahadat of 4 innocent children, including three girls and one boy, and injuries to 2 other civilians. The Deputy High Commissioner was told that the deliberate targeting of civilian populated areas was highly deplorable.

The Indian side was urged to respect the 2003 Ceasefire Understanding in the letter and spirit; to investigate the continued incidents of ceasefire violations; stop targeting the villages and civilians and maintain peace on the LOC. The Government of Pakistan also expressed concern over the incident of Indian refusal of diplomatic flight clearance to Pakistani Aircraft. This action by the India constituted a violation of the 1991 bilateral agreement between Pakistan and India.

Ameer Muqam wants upgradation of Peshawar Electricity Supply Company feeders

Peshawar, November 17, 2016 (PPI-OT):A high level meeting o PESCO chaired by Advisor to Prime Minister Engr. Ameer Muqam here at WAPDA House, Peshawar on Thursday. Chief PESCO Anwar Ul Haq and all the Superintendent Engineers and XENs were also present on the occasion. Advisor to PM was given a details brief pertaining to on-going projects of PESCO in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Engr. Ameer Muqam directed the PESCO authorities to complete the up gradation and construction of Grid Station and Feeders and soon as possible in order to benefit the masses in next summer. He also directed the PESCO high ups to fulfil the vacant vacancies which will further improve the performance of PESCO. PESCO authorities and official should solve the issue of overbilling together with local representative and to take measure for the recovery of electricity defaulters in order to meet the claim of end of load-shedding, Muqam remarked.

He said that power is the basic need of the masses and the present Federal Government is taking measures on an emergency basis so that the people benefit from the power. He said that Prime Minister had promised the people of Pakistan that ‘he will end the load-shedding’ and before coming the time, people of Pakistan have observed it by themselves. He further said that as per promised the load-shedding will be ended by 2018.

Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa calls on Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources

Islamabad, November 14, 2016 (PPI-OT):Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak called on Federal Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources, Mr. Shahid Khaqan Abbasi in Islamabad. Meeting discussed about the supply of Gas to Karak and Hangu. In the meeting it was deliberated that gas will be supplied to Gurguri, Utar Cheena village and Nashpa well till 5 kilometres of radius on priority basis. Cost of the Project is estimated at around Rs.7 Billions. Project will be completed in Phases.

Oil and Gas Development Company Limited discovers oil and gas at three wells in Sindh

Islamabad, November 03, 2016 (PPI-OT):Federal Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources, Mr Shahid Khaqan Abbasi announced that Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) has made three discoveries of oil and gas from its exploratory wells namely Gundanwari-1, Mithri-1 and Khamiso well-1, which are located in Districts Ghotki and Khairpur of Sindh Province. These discoveries will result in an increase of 30 MMSCFD gas in total output of the country.

Speaking on the occasion the minister said that exploration and production activities have increased by 40 % during the current governments tenure, despite downward pull due to falling oil prices. He further said that 90 discoveries have been made during the current government’s tenure and the success ratio has also jumped from 31% to 55%. While praising OGDCL, the minister said that OGDCL along with PPL has led the efforts of exploration in the field of oil and gas.

OGDCL, the largest listed Company of Pakistan and leader in E and P sector is moving ahead with aggressive exploratory activities by vigorously pursuing operations in Balochistan, KPK, Sindh and Punjab provinces. Company holds 33% of exploration acreage of Pakistan and accounts for 55% of oil and 28% of gas being produced in the Country. For the long term sustainability and meeting energy requirements, OGDCL has planned 25 wells during the current year.

The structure of Gundanwari # 01 Mithri #01 and Khamiso # 01 were delineated, drilled and tested using OGDCL’s in house expertise and in close collaboration with GHPL team. The Gundanwari # 01 well was drilled down to the depth of 3,750 M and Mithri #01 was drilled down to the depth of 4,250 M. The Gundanwari well # 01 has tested 19.40 MMSCFD of gas and 15 BPD of Condensate through 32/64” choke at well head flowing pressure 3,300 Psi from Lower Goru (Massive Sand Formation).

While Mithri #01 has tested 6.44 MMSCFD of gas through 32/64” choke at well head pressure 1,600 Psi from Lower Goru (Massive Sand) formation. The structure of Khamiso # 01 was drilled down to the depth of 753 meter. The well has tested 2.95 MMSCFD of gas through choke 32/64” at well head flowing pressure of 505 Psi from Pirkoh Limestone formation. These discoveries have opened up a new avenue and would add hydrocarbon reserve base of OGDCL, GHPL and of the Country.
