All Pakistan Paper Merchants Association demands State Bank of Pakistan to resolve issue of KASB Bank on war footing

Lahore, February 17, 2015 (PPI-OT): All Pakistan Paper Merchants Association (APPMA) has demanded of the State Bank of Pakistan to resolve the issue of KASB Bank on war footing, as depositors are in deep trouble due to seizing of their accounts.

In a statement issued here Tuesday, APPMA leaders Khawaja Nadeem Saeed Wain, Khamis Saeed Butt and Muhammad Ajmal regretted that the central bank failed to act in time to stop rot at KASB bank. They said sudden suspension of all accounts by SBP has jeopardized their life long savings.

They said that State Bank of Pakistan was taking the plea that operations of KASB bank were suspended in order to protect the interest of depositors and other stakeholders but ground realities were quite different. They said that that most of the account holders of KASB bank were business doing people and after seizing of their account, they were facing massive financial crunch.

APPMA urged the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) revisit the affairs of all other smaller banks that failed to increase their capital according to regulations of central bank.

Khawaja Nadeem Saeed Wain said that it was prime duty of State Bank of Pakistan to monitor the working of all banks included the KASB Bank properly.

He urged the Federal Finance Minister Ishaq Dar and Governor State Bank of Pakistan to take notice of the worries of KASB bank account holders and ensure early reimbursement of their deposited amounts.

All Pakistan Paper Merchants Association delegation visits offices of various trade organizations and chambers in China

Lahore, August 04, 2014 (PPI-OT): An 11-member delegation of All Pakistan Paper Merchants Association (APPMA), presently visiting China under the leadership of Khamis Saeed Butt, had visited the offices of various trade organizations and chambers and also had B2B meetings with their Chinese counterparts.

The delegation Poly World Centre and had fruitful meetings with paper manufacturers. The delegation also visited Neutek Factory where Chairman Mr. Chui Qing Chen warmly welcomed the delegation and briefed the delegation about working of industrial unit. The delegation also had a presentation about production.

The APPMA delegation also had a dinner hosted by the organizers of 11th International Paper Expo in honour of delegates. On the occasion, Mr. Lv Young Song appreciated the efforts of Khamis Saeed Butt for strengthening the mutual relations of two countries.

Speaking on the occasion, Khamis Saeed Butt applauded the hospitality of Chinese business doing people and hoped that mutual relations between the two countries would touched new heights.

He said that All Pakistan Paper Merchants Association will continue to participate in the Mega Paper Exhibition being held in China.

Khamis Saeed Butt said that there is vast scope and potential for investment and joint ventures in Pakistan. Chinese investors should come forward and avail the opportunity.

The delegation had joint and one-to-one meeting at various Chambers and offices of Trade Associations in China.

The delegation had a meeting with Consulate General of Pakistan Mr. Babar Amin. The delegation will also conduct market survey to find new avenues for Pakistani merchandise.

Lahore, April 22, 2014 (PPI-OT): Head of 22-member delegation of All Pakistan Paper Merchants Association (APPMA) delegation Khamis Saeed Butt and Honorary Senior Vice President of APPMA Khawaja Nadeem Saeed have paid rich tributes to the Trade Development Officer of Pakistan High Commission in UK Adil Mukhtar for extending remarkable cooperation to the APPMA delegation during its recent visit to UK.

While arriving back to the homeland after 12-day visit Khamis Saeed Butt and Khawaja Nadeem Saeed said that Adil Mukhtar was a committed man and making tireless efforts to strengthen trade and economic relations between the two countries.

They said that B2B meetings of Pakistani businessmen with their UK counterparts, arranged by the Pakistani High Commission in UK, would certainly give a jumpstart to barter trade and credit goes to Adil Mukhtar.

Senior Vice President All Pakistan Paper Merchants Association urges Chief Minister Punjab to form a committee for establishment of Kite City

Lahore, November 06, 2013 (PPI-OT): Senior Vice President of All Pakistan Paper Merchants Association (APPMA) and founder of Kite Flying Festival in Pakistan Khawaja Nadeem Saeed Wayeen has urged the Chief Minister Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif to form a high-powered committee headed by MNA Pervaiz Malik for the early establishment of Kite City outside Lahore.

He was addressing an emergent meeting here on Wednesday which was also attended by Barrister Khalid Zafar, Col ® Saeed Khan, Professor Khalid Malik, office-bearers of Home Net NGO, representatives of All Pakistan Kite Flying Association and a large number of people from various walks of life.

Khawaja Nadeem Saeed Wayeen said that proposed committee would not only supplement the Chief Minister Punjab’s efforts to save the precious human lives but would also revive the dying tourism industry.

He said that Pevaiz Malik was the most effective and competent Parliamentarian to head this committee as has vast experience and well aware of the social and economic issues.

While expressing concern over sad incident of deaths by kite string, he urged the people to stop flying kites on rooftops.

He said that it was the only reason that he had given the proposal for the establishment of out-of-city Kite Flying Zones to avoid happening of any such incident in future.

He said that government would not be able to control kite flying in the city premises till the establishment of Kite Flying Zones out of City limits.

Khawaja Nadeem Saeed Wayeen appealed to the Chief Minister Punjab Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif to form a high-powered committee immediately in the larger interest of the trade, industry, tourism sector and masses.

Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry would continue efforts for solution of problems faced by businessmen dealing in paper and paperboard products: Sohail Lashari

Lahore, October 01, 2013 (PPI-OT): The LCCI President Engineer Sohail Lashari has said that the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry would continue its efforts for the solution of the problems being faced by businessmen dealing in paper and paperboard products.

The LCCI President was speaking 20th Annual General Meeting of All Pakistan Paper Merchants Association (APPMA) on Monday. LCCI Senior Vice President Mian Tariq Misbah, Vice President Kashif Anwar, former Advisor to Chief Minister Muhammad Ali Mian, MNA Waheed Alam Khan, Khalifa Abdul Majeed, leader of APPMA Businessmen Group Khamis Saeed Butt and more than 300 hundred members of APPMA were present in the meeting.

It is pertinent to mention here that Ahad Ameen Malik has been elected APPMA Senior Vice Chairman, Mian Amjad Hussain President, Imran Khalid Chaudhry Vice President, Aamir Sagheer Sheikh Secretary General, Muhammad Raza Joint Secretary, Shan Liaqat Finance Secretary while Khawaja Nadeem Saeed Wayeen has been elected honorary Senior Vice President of APPMA.

Engineer Sohail Lashari urged the newly elected office-bearers of the APPMA to forward their proposals to the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry so that the issued being faced by them could be taken up with concerned government circles.

Speaking on the occasion, newly elected office-bearers urged the government to help curtail import duty on the Paper and paperboard and it should be included in the category of semi-finished material for printing and packaging.

They said that the government should allow duty-free import of paper used for printing of text books. They said that it would help the students to get text books on cheaper rates. At the end, shields were distributed amongst the participants.

Businessmen Group makes clean sweep in general elections of All Pakistan Paper Merchants Association

Lahore, September 16, 2013 (PPI-OT): Businessmen Group has made a clean sweep in the Annual General Elections of All Pakistan Paper Merchants Association.

According to the results announced by the Election Commissioner, candidates of Businessmen Group Mian Amjad Hussain, Imran Khalid Chaudhry Muhammad Reza, Sharafat Hussain, Muhammad Shan and Muhammad Naeem got success on all six seats.

Leader of Businessmen Group Khamis Saeed Butt, President of All Pakistan Paper Merchants Association (APPMA) Muhammad Ajmal and Vice President Khawaja Nadeem Saeed Wayeen said that business community has posed confidence on the candidates of Businessmen Group while keeping in view its previous performance. They said that newly elected members would continue their struggle to get the issues being faced by the business community solved.

The LCCI new president would be the Chief Guest in the Annual General Meeting of APPMA to be held at the LCCI on September 30, 2013.

Meanwhile, the LCCI former Presidents Mian Anjum Nisar, Mian Shafqat Ali, Muhammad Ali mian, Chairman PIAF Malik Tahir Javed and representatives of business community have congratulated the Businessmen Group of All Pakistan Paper Merchants Association (APPMA) for winning the elections with a thumping majority.
