Switzerland’s trade with Pakistan rose by 15 per cent over last year, substantial room for further improvement

Karachi: Switzerland’s trade with Pakistan increased by 15 percent over last year and there is substantial room for its further improvement, says Swiss Ambassador to Pakistan Christoph Bubb.

Talking to newsmen Thursday at reception hosted by Didier Boschung Swiss Consul General in Karachi, he said bilateral trade volume between Switzerland & Pakistan is about $350 million with balance of trade in favor of Switzerland. He felt there was potential to further enhance it.

Bubb said Switzerland is one of major direct investor in Pakistan. Three new Swiss companies recently set foot in Pakistan – Pulher, Sika & Hilti which have worldwide operations. “This is a positive development,” he noted.

He stressed Pakistan with a 180 million plus consumers having huge potential. He said from Swiss perspective all multinational companies that are in Pakistan for last many years will remain here and are increasing their investment because they know that this is a good place to invest.

He said 21 major Swiss companies, like Novartis, Nestle, Roche, ABB, SGS etc., are operating in Pakistan and happy with course of their business activities.
