Strong and robust justice system forms the basis for strong and robust economy: Mr. Ashtar Ausaf Ali

Islamabad, May 26, 2015 (PPI-OT): Mr. Oleg Slizhevsky, Minister of justice of the Republic of Belarus, called on Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on Law Mr. Ashtar Ausaf Ali and discussed the possibilities of enhancing economic cooperation and legal assistance between the two countries. Mr. Slizhevsky told SAPM that the Republic of Belarus, in its process to strengthen its economic and cultural relations with Pakistan, is going to a sign number of agreements during the visit of President of Belarus H. E. Mr. Alexander Lukashenko.

Mr. Ashtar Ausaf Ali, while stressing upon the importance and possibilities of enhancing economic cooperation between the two countries, said,” Apart from cooperation in the field of agriculture, both the countries should have joint ventures in the field of edible oil production, machinery parts of cars, tractors and cycles.

Both the countries should take bilateral political, cultural and economic relations to the next level by sharing their expertise in various fields and removing existing hurdles for enabling joint ventures.” Mr. Ashtar Ausaf Ali explained the guest about the salient features of Justice System in Pakistan by referring to the constitution of Pakistan which ensures the independence of judiciary and provides for the separation of executive and judiciary.

He explained the hierarchy of Judiciary in Pakistan, role of organizations like NAB and Ombudsmen. He further told that Pakistan strongly believe in rule of Law and in adopting best practices in this regard because strong and robust justice system is the prerequisite of strong and robust economy. He stresses upon the importance of sharing best practices and mutual legal assistance. Mr. Oleg Slizhevsky informed the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister that various business delegations from Belarus are visiting Pakistan and identifying areas where possibility of joint ventures exist.
