Standing Committee on Planning Development and Reform meets

Islamabad, February 28, 2019 (PPI-OT): 2nd meeting of the Standing Committee on Planning Development and Reform was held today at 2:00 p.m. in the Auditorium of the Ministry of Planning, Development and Reform, Pak-Secretariat, Islamabad, under the Chairmanship of Mr. Junaid Akbar, MNA. The meeting started with the recitation from the Holy Quran. Afterwards, the Committee proceeded with the agenda of the meeting. The Committee confirmed minutes of its first meeting held on 20th February, 2019.

The Federal Secretary, Ministry of Planning, Development and Reform, Mr. Zafar Hassan briefed the Standing Committee regarding the organizational structure of the Ministry. During the briefing, the Chair stressed that the vacant post of Chief Economist must be held by a person who is competent and eligible to serve in the same position for at least 3 to 4 years. While discussing the process for development strategy and budget making, the Committee stressed that underdeveloped and remote areas need special focus of the Ministry for development projects. The Committee also approved the ongoing Public Sector Development Programs of the Ministry for the Year 2019-20.
