Special Economic Zones for industrial uplift on the cards


RAWALPINDI: Federal Secretary Ministry of Industries Aziz Ahmad Bilour has said that Special Economic Zones will be established to endorse the industrial uplift in the country. He said Ministry will take the stakeholders on board in the policy making process in future.

He expressing these views during a meeting President Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) Syed Ali Raza Saeed Shah here on Monday.

He said that country is facing worst energy crisis which badly affect the industrial growth and as well as the foreign investment. He said that government is fully aware of the prevailing crunch and establishment of Special Economic Zones will help a lot to come out of the crisis.

Bilour lauded the role of RCCI in national development and said that RCCI serving the business community of the region since 1952. He ensured his full cooperation to the President RCCI.

Speaking on the occasion President RCCI Ali Raza said that ministry must focus the rehab of the Sick Industries for industrial uplift. He said that consultation with the stakeholders can help to achieve the desired results.

He demanded of the federal secretary to improve the Pakistan Gems & Jewellery Development Company (PGJDC) as the said sector of the country has great potential in the international trade markets. He was of the view that beside traditional trade products; non-traditional trade items must be explored to enhance the exports target of the motherland.-
