Sindh Governor for Close Circuit Television Cameras at parks in city

Karachi, February 15, 2016 (PPI-OT): Governor Sindh Dr. Ishrat Ul Ebad Khan during his visit to different parks in the metropolis ordered immediate installation of close circuit television cameras in each of these and also their connection to Command and Control Centre. Sindh Governor accompanied by provincial minister for local bodies, Jam Khan Shoro and Karachi Commissioner, Syed Asif Hyder Shah, said provision for CCTV and cameras will create a sense of security among the people visiting the parks.

It will also help preventing presence of criminals and anti- social elements at the sites, said the governor. He directed the concerned authorities to ensure maximum plantation in these parks and also to develop jogging tracks as people, of all age groups in Karachi, are in dire need of healthy recreational activities.

Seeking immediate provision for fixed benches with proper lighting arrangements in the parks of Karachi, the Sindh Governor said events, often under the pretext of festivals, held here must be avoided as it has been found to have damaged actual purpose of parks. He directed that status of all plots dedicated as parks must be retained and separate sites be identified for events as festival etc.

Governor of Sindh during his visit to Jheel Park reviewed arrangements being made to pump out the seepage and suggested that vast tract of land that is yet to be converted into a proper park can be developed as play ground for the area people. He on the occasion directed the officials that adequate arrangements should be made so that unwanted elements, with particular reference to addicts, may not enter there.

Dr. Ishrat Ul Ebad Khan took strong exception to ill maintenance of Aziz Bhatti Park, that he remembered was once one of the most beautiful park in Karachi. Seeking officials to ensure prompt repair and renovation of the park said 75% of the park area presenting an unkempt status must be addressed and a report be presented to him about the interventions. About the Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Park in Clifton, spread over an area of 47 acres, Governor of Sindh said its walkways must be repaired with prompt arrangements for its overall maintenance.

He also ordered immediate cleanliness of Beach View Park and ordered suction of sewage water from the site. Dr Ishrat Ul Ebad Khan appreciated that the un-authorized landfill site around the park has been removed. Taking exception to the fact that vast majority of parks visited by him were not in adequate state, Dr. Ishrat ul Ibad Khan vowed to take round of each and every park in the metropolis as well as in other parts of the province and ensure that people are deprived of their right to healthy recreation and environment friendly atmosphere.
