Sindh government and China’s mining company signs agreement, 900 mega watts electricity will be generated from 2014
Karachi: The Government of Sindh and China’s Global Mining Company has signed an agreement on Monday at CM House according to which 5 million ton coal will be excavated yearly from the Thar Coal Field Block I and 900 mega watts electricity will be generated, said a handout issued here.
Speaking on the occasion CM Sindh Qaim Ali Shah said the purpose behind research works on coal and other minerals is to make the country’s Energy Sector self sufficient.
In his address, the CEO Global Mining Company Young Liu said the feasibility report in this regard will presented within six months while the ground breaking ceremony will be held in the first week of April 2012.
Shah said the production of coal will be started after three years while from 2014, 900 mega watts electricity will be generated.
The CM informed that Global Mining Company will be investing 4.5 billion US Dollars up till 2016 in this regard, while by achieving the target of generating 10,000 mega watts electricity by 2010, investment of 4 billion US Dollars will also be done.
