Shaista Perviaz inaugurates small and medium enterprise pavilion in 12th South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation trade fair

Lahore, December 04, 2015 (PPI-OT): Mrs. Shaista Pervaiz Malik, Member National Assembly and Chief Organizer Women wing of PML-N, Lahore, inaugurated an SME Pavilion set up by the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA) at 12th SAARC Trade Fair and 9th WEXNET-2015 opened at Lahore Expo Center from today. A large number of the women entrepreneurs as well as senior officials of SMEDA were present on this occasion.

Mrs. Shaista Perviaz, while addressing the ceremony, said that PMN-N is determined to exhibit economic empowerment of women in the country. She opined that the country could not achieve the goal of economic prosperity until and unless the women start playing active role in the national economy. She appreciated the role of TDAP and SMEDA in promoting entrepreneurship among women of the country. She said that her party was making all out efforts to encourage women entrepreneurs to enter into national and international market of business. She acknowledged that WEXNET-2015, being associated with 12th SAARC Trade Fair had appeared to be the largest exhibition of South Asia, which will become a source of introducing women made products of Pakistan to the Asian market.

Later, Mrs. Shaista Pervaiz took a round of the stalls placed in the SME Pavilion and examined the products displayed over there.

SMEDA- organized -Pavilion is displaying products produced by the women entrepreneurs working outside Lahore. The major products displayed in SME Pavilion relates to Textile, Leather, Interior Designing, Jewellery, hand-made embroidery, Cosmetics and Handicrafts.

One of the stalls of SME Pavilion has been developed as facilitation centre for the exhibitors, which is bearing information on SMEDA’s current initiatives including Prime Minister Youth Business Loan, SME Club, Women Business Development Centres and the business development services available at SMEDA.

Meanwhile CEO SMEDA Mr. Muhammad Alamgir Chaudhry, commenting on SMEDA participation in WEXNET, has assured the continued support of his organization to promote entrepreneurship among women. Towing the mandate of government, SMEDA has set up women business development centers in major cities of the country and also held a series of the training programs on women related businesses.
