Shab-e-Meraj observed with religious zeal in IOK

Srinagar, May 17, 2015 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, Shab-e-Meraj-un-Nabi (PBUH), the night of ascendance, was observed with profound religious fervour, reverence and devotion. The Muslims every year on the intervening night of Rajab-ul-Murajjab 26 and 27 of Islamic calendar observe Shab-e-Meraj in which the holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) went on a heavenly journey.

During the nightlong special payers in mosques and shrines, the people sought the blessings of Allah Almighty. Islamic scholars highlighted the importance of this special event and its blessings. Mosques, shrines and houses were also illuminated with colourful light on the night. Special prayers in this connection were held at all mosques and shrines across occupied Kashmir.

The largest congregation was held at Hazratbal Shrine in Srinagar where thousands of Muslims offered nightlong prayers. The holy relic of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was also displayed on the occasion. A large special prayer function was also held in Srinagar’s historical Jamia Masjid in which thousands of Muslims participated.
