Services export witnesses 10.60 percent increase

ISLAMABAD: The exports of services sector grew by 10.60 percent during the first four months of current fiscal year as against the same period of last year.

Overall services exports were recorded at $1,649 million during the period July-October, 2011 against the exports of $1,491 million during the same period of last fiscal year, according to data provided by Federal Bureau of Statistics (FBS).

On the other hand, service imports into the country also increased by 7.01 percent by going up from $2,425 million during July-October 2010 to $2,595 million in the same period of current year, the data revealed.

The services trade deficit during the period under review increased by 1.28 percent when compared to the deficit of the corresponding period of last year.
