Sensitive Price Index increases slightly
ISLAMABAD: The weekly based Sensitive Price Index (SPI) increased by 0.15 percent for the lowest income group of up to Rs 3,000 a month compared to the previous week, while the weekly inflation has registered a negligible increase for the highest income group of more than Rs 12,000, the data released by the Federal Bureau of Statistics (FBS), on Saturday said.
The SPI registered an increase of 0.12 percent income group between Rs 3,001 to Rs 5,000 and the increase of 0.07 percent has been registered for income group Rs 5, 001 to Rs 12,000.
For the combined income groups the SPI has increased by 0.04 percent against the previous week while the increase compared to the corresponding week last year has been 15.94 percent.
While the rates of only three items declined during the week, the price of 20 items registered an increase against price hike in 19 items during the week ending on August 18.
SPI is computed by taking average prices of 53 items from 17 urban centres across the country.
