Saudi security forces announce readiness to ensure pilgrims’ safety at holy sites

In a massive military parade held here on Monday, the Saudi security forces from various sectors declared their preparedness to ensure safety of pilgrims so as to enable them to perform their Hajj rituals in peace and tranquility and return home safely after the pilgrimage.

The military parade was held as part of the annual ceremony to review the Hajj security forces and the agencies involved in Hajj affairs participating in the implementation of the general plan for the Hajj season this year. It was sponsored by Saudi Interior Minister and Chairman of the Higher Hajj Committee Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Naif, who affirmed the preparedness of all sectors involved in securing this year’s Hajj.

The minister reviewed the special mechanisms to deal with various security situations, as well as the armored vehicles and security aviation on deployment. The ceremony also included a presentation of combat skills by the security forces to tackle terrorist acts without using weapons and to storm fortified buildings.

The ceremony was attended by Deputy Governor of Makkah Region Prince Abdullah bin Bandar, along with the ministers who are members of the Higher Hajj Committee, members of the Central Hajj Committee and commanders of the security sectors.

Addressing the ceremony, Assistant Minister of Interior for Operations Affairs Gen. Saeed bin Abdullah Al-Qahtani said the forces have begun their duties in Makkah, the holy sites, Madinah and all the entry points and roads leading to the Hajj ritual areas.

Al-Qahtani stressed the readiness of the forces, in coordination with the Saudi ministries and other bodies, to maintain the security of pilgrims and facilitate the performance of their Hajj rituals.
