Removal of sign boards and demolition of houses in Gujjar Nallah

Karachi, July 26, 2016 (PPI-OT):KMC Administrator Laeeq Ahmed said all sign boards and hoardings installed on overhead bridges located inside the remit of KMC have been removed under the directive of the Supreme Court whereas demolition of concrete structures and other encroachments from the main drains in city including Gujjar Nallah was also underway speedily so that these drains could be cleaned by machinery.

The special anti encroachments task force of KMC removed sign boards from overhead bridges at various places in the city including near Matric Board Office in Nazimabad and from both side of Rashid Minhas Road near Alladin Park. The anti encroachments squad equipped with heavy machinery including chawals and excavator demolished more than 300 houses built in the Gujjar Nallh during three days.

This operation which was carried out under the supervision of director anti encroachments Mazhar Khan would continue so that thousands of houses could be removed from the major drain and in this way pave the way for its cleaning. Under the plan 18 to 20 feet space would be vacated alongside 14km long Gujjar Nallah to get the space for entering cleaning machinery.

KMC has also appealed to the residents of illegally built houses in Gujjar Nallah to vacate the place voluntarily and cooperate with the KMC staff. The anti encroachments staff of KMC also performed its operation near Taj Medical Complex at M.A Jinnah Road and removed different kinds of encroachments including cabins, patharas, push carts and iron counters from the main road and pavement.
