Reko Diq board decides to setup refinery in Chagai

QUETTA: Board of Governors of Reko Diq project has decided to setup refinery in District Chagai and accorded approval for the appointment of its Managing Director. This to this effect was taken at the meeting of Board of Governors of Reko Diq project under the Chairmanship of Balochistan Chief Minister Nawab Aslam Raisani in Islamabad Tuesday.

Head of Board and renowned scientist Dr Samar Mubarak Mand, Balochistan Chief Secretary Ahmad Bakhsh Lehri, Additional Chief Secretary Development, Secretary Mines and representative of Finance Department attended the meeting.

Board while reviewing previous decisions implementation discussed detailed agenda and approved some important decisions. Meeting taking decision for start of the project with immediate effect accorded approval for setting up a refinery and appointment of its Managing Director.

It was also decided that other matters would also be accorded priority so that work on the project should be started with full swing. It was agreed that with the implementation of the project an economic revolution would take place in the province and utilization of previous metal found in Reko Diq found in abundance would not only benefit people of Chagai but would cause positive impacts on the overall economy of the province.

Participants while appreciating bold decision of Chief Minister for running the project at own said that province was deprived of fruits of this massive project for the lst 17 years. But owing to wise decision of Nawab Aslam Raisani people of Balochistan would benefit directly from its benefit. Board also approved other matters included in the agenda.
