Record decline registered in prices of cattle in Tharparkar

Mithi: A drastic decline was registered in the rates of goats and sheep in Desert district Tharparkar, devastated by last years’ unprecedented monsoon rains.

There was a slump in cattle market held every Sunday in Mithi, the district headquarter town, where the villagers from across the desert bring the goats and sheep. However this Sunday there was a very low number of buyers that caused decline in prices of animals.

Price of a goat was registered from Rs.2500 to Rs.3000 which is record decline in the rate of goats. Many of the livestock owners returned home without selling animals because of record decline in price. It is said that this decline has been recorded in prices due to last year’s torrential rain while traders of the animals say that decline in prices in big cities has caused problem for them.
