Punjab, Khorasan to enhance bilateral cooperation in agriculture, livestock, etc.

LAHORE: The Government of Punjab and the Iranian province of Khorasan-e-Rizvi have agreed to enhance bilateral cooperation in the sectors of Agriculture, Livestock, Mines, Energy, Transportation and Construction. In this regard Punjab Board of Investment and Trade (PBIT) organized a high level meeting of Punjab Khorasan joint working group at 90-Shahra-e-Quaid-e-Azam Lahore.

The five member Joint working group from Khorasan-e-Rizvi was chaired by Dr. Abbas Niawand while the seven member joint working group from the Punjab Government side was headed by Chief Executive Officer Punjab Board of Investment & Trade, Saadat Muzaffar. During the session all the relevant departments of Punjab government showcased their investment opportunities and outlined the status of negotiations of projects to be signed between the two parties.

The participant agreed that under the vision of the Governor of Khorasan-e- Rizvi, Dr. Mahmoud Salahi and Chief Minister Punjab Mohammad Shahbaz Sharif the potential areas of collaboration between the two counties should move into a fast track mode as the trade and investment figures between the two countries are below potential, which can be sufficiently enhanced by promoting mutual cooperation.

Saadat Muzaffar led a discussion on the positive pro-investment incentives offered by the Government of Punjab and Secretaries of Livestock, Agriculture, Transport Departments, Chairman Punjab Power Development Company and Director General PHA presented opportunities for collaboration between the two sides.

The meeting was told that in order to steer all departmental collaborations between the two provinces and a MOU would be signed between Punjab Board of Investment and Trade (PBIT) and the Centre for Investment Services of Khorasan-e-Rizvi.
