Punjab government to sale 582 lack tons wheat at Rs950 per maund

LAHORE: Punjab government has given approval to the sale of 582 lakh tons of wheat at Rs950 per maund during the month of January next year. Senior Advisor to Chief Minister Punjab Sirdar Zulfiqar Ali Khan Khosa said this while presiding over a meeting on Wednesday. He said through the sale of the wheat laying in godowns, which was purchased in 200910, further expenditure of Rs3 billion to be incurred on its protection can be saved.

The meeting was told that at present 43 lakh tons wheat was available with provincial Food Department in godowns of various districts, whereas only 7 lakh tons wheat had been sold so far. The meeting was told that this wheat would be sold at the export rate of Rs.1036 per maund. Provincial Law Minister Rana Sanaullah, Agriculture Minister Ahmad Ali Aulakh, Chief Secretary Punjab, Chairman Planning & Development Board, Secretaries of Finance, Food and Agriculture departments also attended the meeting.
