Punjab firm, Malaysia sign MoU to promote business

Lahore: Punjab Industrial Estate Development and Management Company (PIEDMC) and the government of Malaysia have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to promote their business ties and set up projects of Halal products in Pakistan, an official said on Friday.

Spokesman for PIEDMC said that this would ultimately help enhance exports from Pakistan. Malaysian State Minister and Chairman Penang International Halal Hub, Haji Abdul Malik Kassim signed the MoU on behalf of the Malaysian government, while PIEDMC was represented by its Chairman S M Tanveer.

Punjab Industrial Estate has allocated 100 acres of land in the Rahim Yar Khan Industrial Estate for production of Halal products. RYK Industrial Estate would have infrastructure compliance with the international standard. Speaking on the occasion, Kassim said that worth of international Halal products trade was more than three trillion dollars per annum.
