PSA on JKML leader, Palhalan youth denounced

Srinagar, February 21, 2016 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, Jammu and Kashmir Muslim League has castigated the authorities for slapping draconian Public Safety Act (PSA) on party leader Assadullah Parray. He has been shifted to Baramulla Sub Jail to Udhampur.

Assadullah Parray, the District President of Muslim League Bandipora, was arrested last year on allegations of anti-India activities. “His first PSA was quashed by a local court. However, police rearrested him and lodged him at Udhampur Jail. He was then shifted to Reasi Jail from where he was brought to JIC Humhama, then to Hajin and Sub-Jail Baramulla,” the ML spokesperson Muhammad Rafiq Ganaie said.

The authorities have now booked him under PSA and shifted him to Udhampur Jail. “Scores of our leaders and activists, including Masrat Aalam, Hakim Showkat, Manzoor Lelhari, Pir Abdul Majid, Mehrajuddin Nanda, Mehrajuddin Gojri and Molvi Sajad are languishing in various jails,” he added. Meanwhile, a Palhalan family said that police had implicated their dear one, Nasir Ahmed Ganaie, in fabricated cases.

Nasir Ahmed Ganaie alias Nasir Molvi was booked by Police in fake case of stone-pelting and the death of a police driver. Head constable Kawlain Singh died after the vehicle he was driving met with an accident amid stone pelting clashes near Palhalan in Pattan after Eid prayers in October, 2013. “Nasir was booked under section 307,302,148,149,323 despite the fact he was not present when the police driver lost control over the vehicle and met with an accident.

His brother said Nasir has spent nine years in jail since 2006. “He was free for a year only and in that year he got married. He is father of a son and his wife was awaiting his release,” he added. On Saturday Baramulla police slapped PSA on him after spending more than two years in jail and shifted him to Kathua.
