Prime Minister and Punjab Chief Minister inaugurates Greater Iqbal Park project

Lahore, December 19, 2016 (PPI-OT):Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif have inaugurated splendid Greater Iqbal Park Project. Opportunities of best recreational facilities are available for the citizens in Greater Iqbal Park comprising over 120 acre land and this project is a landmark in connection with culture of Pakistan. Both the leaders visited Greater Iqbal Park and inspected recreational places set up here.

DG PHA gave a detailed briefing regarding the project. Addressing the inaugural ceremony of Greater Iqbal Park, Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif said that where we are present today is not mere a piece of land rather a place which is full of incidents of history and prospects of future. On the one hand, Badshahi Masjid is a sign of our grand past while on the other hand, Minar-e-Pakistan is a memorial of the fact where our elders passed a historic resolution for a separate country Pakistan in the presence of Quaid-e-Azam.

He said that now, under the Leadership of Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, Punjab government has made Greater Iqbal Park, which has increased the beauty of Lahore, upon which, Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif and his entire team deserve appreciation. Certainly, under the leadership of Shehbaz Sharif, his team has completed the beautiful work of Greater Iqbal Park.

He said that there is a Mazar of Hafeez Jalandhari and we have got the honor of its beatification. He congratulated Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif and his team on beautification of Mazar of Hafeez Jalandhari. He said that beatification of historical buildings is the responsibility of the government and it is fulfilling this responsibility efficiently.

He said that foreign and local tourists will come to Greater Iqbal Park and it will become a central point for them. He said that China which is famous for completing projects speedily is also giving the name of Punjab Speed to the projects being completed speedily in Pakistan. He said that under the leadership of Punjab Chief Minister, Punjab government is beatifying tourist places while new hospitals and development projects are also being completed transparently throughout the province.

Speaking on the occasion, Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif said Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif had said one and half years ago that a splendid project with regard to history, culture and tourism of Pakistan should be made and its name should be Greater Iqbal Park. According to his orders, as a result of round the clock work, Greater Iqbal Park project has been inaugurated today and this project is full of culture of Pakistan.

He said that library, international standard food courts, culture of all the four provinces, Azad Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan, soft wheel train are presenting an attractive view for the tourists. He said that Greater Iqbal Park equipped with world standard fountains and flowers will certainly become a centre for local and foreign tourists and this great park will become an identity in the world. A historic museum is also being developed here, he added.

He thanked Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif on sparing time from his engagements for inaugurating Greater Iqbal Park Project and said that this project is reflective of his vision. He thanked Chief Secretary, DG PHA, Commissioner, Vice Chairman PHA and the entire team on completion of this splendid project and congratulated them on its inauguration.

He also congratulated the committee which had been constituted under the supervision of Hamza Shehbaz Sharif MNA for working day and night for this splendid project. He said that former dictator General Musharaf, raising the slogan of Pakistan First, ruined Bab-e-Pakistan Project. During his tenure, Punjab government assigned the responsibility of this project to him and despite passage of thirteen years, this project remained incomplete.

He said that national resources were looted in the name of development projects during the tenure of dictator and instead of completion, development projects were left incomplete. Loot and plunder was rampant during his tenure and rulers filled their pockets and but did nothing for the people.

He said that work is being carried out on development projects round the clock under the leadership of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and added that Pakistan will achieve the goal of progress and prosperity under his leadership. He congratulated Habib Construction Company on completion of Greater Iqbal Project.
