President Mamnoon Hussain calls for promoting cultural heritage of the country

Islamabad, December 01, 2016 (PPI-OT):President Mamnoon Hussain has said that preservation and promotion of literary and cultural heritage strengthens bonds of fraternity, brotherhood and nationhood in a society adding that educational and literary institutions can play an important role in this regard. The President called for making concerted efforts to effectively promote the country’s rich cultural heritage for highlighting the softer image of Pakistan.

The President said this while talking to Irfan Siddiqui, Advisor to Prime Minister on National History and Literary Heritage, who called on him at the Aiwan-e-Sadr, Islamabad on Thursday. President Mamnoon Hussain said that the government is committed to promote literary activities across the country to encourage a culture of book reading and other artistic pursuits. He emphasized the significance of spiritual and philosophical training of the youth along with acquiring modern education to make them a better and useful citizen.

Mr. Irfan Siddiqui apprised the President of steps underway to promote the teachings of Quaid-e-Azam and Allama Iqbal and also briefed him about matters pertaining to his ministry. He further informed about the programmes to promote literary and cultural activities in the country.
