PPI Original Text (PPI-OT) – Federal Budget Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry to give Its Viewpoint after Deliberation

Islamabad, June 04, 2012 (PPI-OT): It may be informed that the Haji Fazal Kadir Khan Sherani, President, FPCCI is on an official visit to the Peoples Republic of China since 1st June, 2012. He has appointed Sheikh Abdul Waheed Sandal, Vice President as the Acting President of FPCCI during his absence abroad. A section of the press has mentioned Mr. Shakil Ahmed Dhingra, Vice President as the Acting President, which is not correct.

Statements of certain FPCCI stalwarts and office holders have appeared in a section of the national press since the announcement of the Federal Budget on 1st June, 2012 in which varied opinions have been expressed on the Federal Budget.

The FPCCI would like to clarify that any reaction / statement issued on the Federal Budget by Mr. Dhingra or for that matter any office bearer or member of FPCCI may be treated as his or her personal opinion and not the official stand of FPCCI.

It is further informed that the FPCCI’s Working Group on the Federal Budget 2012-13 is presently examining the Budget Proposals and the Finance Bill. Official statement / stand of the FPCCI will be issued by the President / Acting President of FPCCI once the Working Group has submitted its deliberations / views on the Budget Proposals.

It is further stated that FPCCI as the apex trade body would seek clarification from the Ministry of Finance on any anomalies or proposals which are not clear in the Budget Documents and would play its role in resolving any contentious issues for a better understanding and working relationship between the public and private sectors.
