Police’s failure to arrest notorious killer in IOK condemned

Srinagar, December 16, 2015 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the forum led by the veteran Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani, has expressed serious concern over the failure of police in arresting notorious government gunmen and killer, Rasheed Balla, despite court orders. The forum spokesman in a statement issued in Srinagar said that on one hand the police were ignoring the court orders to arrest the notorious killer, on the other it were engaged in harassing and implicating Hurriyet leaders, activists and youth in fake cases.

He said that the police had illegally detained the Tehreek-i-Hurriyet President for Bandipora, Raees Ahmed Mir, and released him only after his health deteriorated. However, he said that the police were again raiding the house of Raees Ahmed frequently and harassing his family members.

The spokesman said that two civilians, Ashfaq Ahmed Dar and Muhammad Ashraf Mir, had also been unlawfully detained and the police were not disclosing the reasons of their arrest. He said that this police of arrest spree would have serious consequences for which the puppet administration would be responsible.
