Police harassing Hurriyet activists in Bandipora: Gilani

Srinagar, December 06, 2015 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the veteran Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani has termed as violation of fundamental human rights the illegal detention and conditional release of ailing Tehreek-e-Hurriyet (TeH) District President, Bandipora, Rayees Ahmad Mir.

Syed Ali Gilani in a statement issued in Srinagar said, “The Bandipora police is harassing pro-freedom people on the directions of local pro-Indian politicians in the area.”Rayees Ahmad Mir is among the leaders who were arrested a week before Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the Valley. Since then, Rayees was continuously detained in the police station where he got very sick.

Rayees Ahmad was taken to the Bandipora district hospital where he was admitted and after a thorough checkup the doctors advised him to be shifted to Soura hospital in Srinagar but the police ignored this advice and took him back to the police station and called his family. The police handed Rayees to his family on a condition that he should be brought back to police station after he is being discharged from the hospital, his relatives said. The veteran leader has condemned the police attitude.
