People of Kargil support efforts to safeguard article 35-A

Kargil, August 04, 2018 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, former Chairman of Imam Khumini Memorial Trust, Kargil, Sheikh Mohammad Hussain Lutfi has expressed serious concern over the petition filed in the Supreme Court of India against Article 35-A of the Indian Constitution which grants special rights to the permanent residents of Jammu and Kashmir.

Sheikh Muhammad Hussain Lutfi addressing a gathering in Kargil said that in context of the present situation in the territory and in view of the aspirations of Kashmiris, the people of Kargil stand united with all state subjects of J and K to safeguard the Article 35-A.

Expressing serious concern over the mischievous attempt to temper with the said article, he said that the sentiments, emotions and interests of the people of Kargil as well as the Jammu and Kashmir are greatly attached with the special status of the territory and its special position should be maintained at all costs. He hoped that the Supreme Court of India would uphold the constitutional guarantee provided to the people of Kashmir under Article 35-A, keeping in view the aspirations and interests of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
