Pakistani sports goods exporters’ exhibit at ISPO Munich 2012

ISLAMABAD: Around 85 Pakistani sports goods exhibitors participated at ISPO Munich last week. Ispo is the world’s largest sports goods and sports-wear exhibition held every year in Munich. This year 2,344 exhibitors from 51 countries exhibited their products at ISPO.

Close to 80,000 sports goods and sports-wear buyers from more than 100 countries visited Munich to preview the latest trends. Pakistani exhibitors mostly from Sialkot, attended the show held from January 29 to February 1, 2012. Most exhibitors were encouraged by the large number of visitors which meant more orders: 65 percent of visitors and 83 percent of exhibitors came from foreign countries.

In a poll conducted on site 70 percent of visitors rated ISPO MUNICH 2012 as excellent to very good, 28 percent as good. In addition, 51 percent of those polled believe that ISPO MUNICH will continue to gain importance as an internationally leading sports business platform.

“These results further strengthened the position of ISPO MUNICH as the world’s most important and largest trade show for the sporting goods industry,” said Klaus Dittrich, Chairman and CEO of Messe München International.

The increasing number of individual participations is proof that business is doing well and if the basic facilities provided by the government are improved, the numbers will grow further, commented most of the Pakistani exhibitors. In spite of the economic slump in Europe the increase in exhibition space and visitors was encouraging for the Pakistan sports goods exporters.

Next year ISPO MUNICH 2013 will be held from February 3 to 6, 2013 at Messe München.
