Pakistan-Turkey to sign PTA next year

KARACHI: Preferential trade agreement is to be signed next year between Republic of Turkey and Pakistan. Murat M Onart, Consul General Republic of Turkey said in a meeting with Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) and its members.

He said to improve the construction sector, political support must be involved and government-to-government link is necessary to invest in this sector.

He considered proposals to improve mining in Pakistan and said Turks couldn’t come to invest until the situation in Balochistan get normalised.

He said Turkey would like to foster the trade, as it is a confidence building measure between countries. Various sectors for investment were considered during the meeting.

KCCI President Mian Abrar Ahmad highlighted 77 companies are working in Turkey from Pakistan with their own investment and expenditure.

He said to improve bilateral trade between countries and attract investors, single country exhibition must be organised in both countries.

Pakistan has good potential in agriculture and value added products, he added.
