Pakistan Industrial and Traders Associations Front urge the government to immediately look into the energy issue

Lahore, June 22, 2012 (PPI-OT): Pakistan Industrial and Traders Associations Front (PIAF) Thursday urged the government to immediately look into the energy issue as it is hitting hard the entire tourism industry that has attained the status of the largest industry in the world after oil and automotives.

In a statement issued here, the PIAF Chairman Engineer Sohail Lashari said that Pakistan is one of the best tourist destinations in the world but it has lost its charisma first owing to bad law and order situation and then due to an acute electricity shortage. He said that it would wiser on the part of the government if it comes up with a special package regarding provision of electricity particularly for theme parks.

He said that the tourism related industry always deserves a special treatment as it is not only attracting the foreign tourists but also helps strengthen the soft image of the country.

Engineer Sohail Lashari said that it was very unfortunate that the billion dollar industry has destroyed only because of electricity shortage.

The PIAF Chairman said that there are a number of countries in the world that have no real industry but earning huge foreign exchange through tourism and entertainment industry and in Pakistan the government has never paid any attention towards the marketing of its tourist spots that have a marvelous potential.

He hoped that the new Prime Minister of Pakistan would utilize his best abilities to overcome the ongoing huge electricity shortage soon after assuming the charge.
