Pakistan exports to Germany rise 22 percent YoY

Karachi: Direct bilateral trade between Pakistan and Germany is doing “quite well, in fact very well as far as Pakistan is concerned,” says German Consul General in Karachi Dr Christian Brecht.

He said trade volume between two countries in 2010 was 11% higher compared to previous year. As of 2010, Germany had become the fifth largest investor in Pakistan, he said at informal discussion in lunch hosted by solicitor A.R. Sattar for diplomats, CEOs of multinational companies, businessmen.

Brecht said in his opinion Pakistan seemed to be doing very well as far as trade was concerned. Pakistani exports to Germany in 2010 were higher than imports from Germany. Exports from Pakistan to Germany had risen 22% over the previous year. He said there were many areas where Pakistan could benefit from cooperation with Germany and alternative energy was one of them.
