Multan: Pakistan Cotton Ginners Association PCGA expects bumper 15.5 million bales cotton crop in the country.
“We urge government to take measures on war footing to end energy crisis which had shattered economy,” said Shehzad Ali Khan Senior Vice Chairman, Haji Muhammad Akram , Shaikh Muhammad Saeed Ex-Chairman, ex-Vice Chairman Amanullah Qureshi, Mahesh Kumar & Shaikh Asim Saeed PCGA at joint press conference Tuesday.
Government should ensure uninterrupted supply of electricity as ginning industry was base of textile sector which earns more than 60% foreign exchange through exports. They warned if Multan Electric Power Company, Hyderabad Electric Supply Company & Faisalabad Electric Company do not supply power on top priority to ginning factories then country would lose fruit of current bumper cotton crop.
They said maximum area was brought under cotton by farmers keeping in view prices in international market last year. They demanded introduce Trading Corporation of Pakistan as alternate buyer to stabilize cotton price in market.
