Pakistan calls for early conclusion of Free Trade Agreement with United States

Islamabad: Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani called for early conclusion of Free Trade Agreement FTA with United States to promote bilateral economic activity, a PM House statement said on Tuesday.

Talking to visiting US Congressional delegation led by Doug Lamborn on Tuesday, he said economic activity will address poverty, unemployment particularly in under developed and militancy affected areas. He said US presence in Pakistan should be seen as “source of peace and prosperity by its people”.

He felt US administration particularly US Congress need to be sensitive about opinion, views of Pakistani people to pave way for long term strategic partnership based on mutual trust, respect, interest.
