Pakistan attaches great importance to ties with Kenya: President

Islamabad, August 12, 2015 (PPI-OT): President Mamnoon Hussain has emphasized the great importance Pakistan attaches to its relations with Africa in general and Kenya in particular adding that the government is keen to strengthen relations with countries of the African continent. The President called for expanding volume of trade with Kenya in various areas of mutual benefit in order to realize the true trade potential between the two countries.

The President said this while talking to Pakistan’s High Commissioner-designate to Kenya Mr. Raza Bashir Tarar who called on him here at Aiwan-e-Sadr on Wednesday. Congratulating the High Commissioner on his new assignment, the President called for making efforts to use Kenya as a launching-pad for enhancing trade and commercial relations with the African Union (AU) countries particularly those in East Africa.

The President stressed upon High Commissioner-designate to expand Pakistan’s trade and economic relations with other concurrently accredited countries i.e. Burundi, Eritrea, Rwanda, Somalia and Uganda. The President underlined the importance of exchange of high level visits and cultural exchanges between the two countries for further cementing the bilateral ties.

The President called upon High Commissioner-designate to explore more avenues for export of Pakistani defence products. The President emphasized upon early convening of the Joint Ministerial Commission (JMC) between the two countries for giving impetus to bilateral cooperation. The President wished the High Commissioner-designate success in his new assignment.
