Pakistan, Algeria trade volume low despite excellent political ties

Karachi: Trade volume between Pakistan and Algeria remains “low despite the fact that both countries enjoy excellent political relations,” observed Dr. Ahmed Benflis, Algeria’s Ambassador to Pakistan.

He said this in meeting with Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce & Industry FPCCI President Senator Haji Ghulam Ali on Tuesday and discussed matters of bilateral trade, investment between two countries.

President FPCCI felt exchange of trade delegations was essential to further develop commercial ties, which were currently far below latent potential that exists. Absence of direct air link between Pakistan and Algeria was noted.

Dr. Benflis said FPCCI had signed two MoUs with Algerian Chamber in last 10 years and called for implementing decisions in these agreements by both sides to further collaboration. He invited Pakistani businessmen to Algeria to explore further opportunities for trade and investment.
