Over 2 million metric tones of wheat exported since 2010-11, National Assembly informed

Islamabad: Minister for Commerce Makhdoom Amin Fahim told the National Assembly Thursday that over two million metric tones of wheat was exported since 201011, fetching about six hundred and eighty million dollar in foreign exchange.

To a question in the house, he said the new Afghanistan Pakistan Transit Trade Agreement is based on the principle of full reciprocity and whatever facility is extended by Pakistan would be reciprocated by the Afghan side.

He said main concern in the transit trade was smuggling and the new transit treaty has addressed this issue.

Responding to a question, he said Pakistan exported twenty-two million kilogram Tobacco since 200809 earning about seventy million dollar foreign exchange.

He told the House that Rice constituted significant share of Pakistan’s exports to Iran.

The Commerce Minister said the country suffered trade deficit of eleven point four seven six billion dollar during first six months of the current financial year.

Railway Minister Haji Ghulam Ahmad Bilour told the House that rehabilitation of four hundred coaches is under process besides procurement of two hundred and two modern coaches from China.

He said automatic signals are being installed at thirty-one railway stations with the financial assistance of Islamic Development Bank and the project would be completed next year.
