No ban on new wind and solar projects: Minister

Islamabad, May 14, 2015 (PPI-OT): Federal Minister for Water and Power, Khawaja Muhammad Asif while dispelling an impression of ban on new solar and wind energy projects in the country, said that new projects are to be processed according to the new tariff to be notified by the NEPRA. The Minister was talking to Provincial Minister for Energy Sindh, Syed Murad Ali Shah, who called on him today.

The Federal Minister said that optimal utilization of indigenous resources especially the renewable energy, is on top of the present government’s power generation policy. He said that many projects are already underway while few have started their generation. He said that government welcomes investment in such projects and is committed to facilitate the investors. Matters relating to energy projects in Sindh also came under discussion during the meeting.
